Tasting Notes
This Cabernet Franc has soft, succulent fruit flavors, with the Carmenère giving the wine greater complexity and depth. Deep purple-red in color, the aromas are black cherry, blackberry, chocolate, and coffee bean. The texture is rich and approachable, with loads of cherry fruit and a pronounced minerality, followed with a soft, long finish.
In the Vineyard
The fruit is 100% Valle Central, sourced from four different vineyards in the three distinctive regions of Maule, Curicó, and Colchagua. Vertical trellising with intense canopy and fruit-load management was used to develop intense color and flavor in the fruit.
Winemaking Profile
This 2005 (oops) Cabernet Franc Carmenère is the first vintage of this blend. The grapes were harvested and brought directly to press, which is typically the purview of a smaller, artisanal producer. The winemakers of (oops) have the boutique-producer advantage of picking and pressing in short order, maintaining superior quality. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks, with 30% of the blend aged with French oak staves.
Food Pairing
This full-bodied wine will partner well with meats and game and other hearty dishes such as gratins, baked pasta, ragouts, vegetable stews, and soups.
